Jesse’s 2nd Annual Jobs Fair “a great day for local jobseekers and employers”

Hereford and South Herefordshire MP Jesse Norman’s second annual jobs fair has been hailed as ‘a great day for local jobseekers and employers’.

The Jobs Fair, which was held at Hereford’s Shire Hall on Friday 21 March was sponsored by a number of leading employers including Rehau, S&A Produce, Harrison Clark Rickerbys, Sanctuary Group, Four Acre Trust and Heineken. Other employers with stands on the day included HSBC, ETL, Debenhams, Midland Heart and Hereford and Ludlow College.

The Jobs Fair ran from 10am to 3pm and was visited by hundreds of local people looking for work. In total, over 1000 conversations took place between employers and potential new recruits. Advice on CV preparation and interview technique was provided by Andy Goode from CAP and Dave Harrey.

Jesse was on hand for much of the day and took the opportunity to chat with many jobseekers and employers.

Speaking after the Jobs Fair, Jesse said "unemployment has been falling in Herefordshire for well over a year now, but we all need to do everything we can to assist people to get back into work, or to get a better job if they can. Last year we managed to find jobs for 20 people and I am hopeful we can do even better this year.”

“The Hereford Jobs Fair was free for jobseekers, thanks to the kind support of the sponsors. I would also like to thank the Hereford Journal, Sunshine Radio, Hereford Jobcentre Plus, and Hereford Sixth Form College for getting the word out.”
